Lyrics

(He Had)
(A Song for the Homeless)

He had no place to lay His head
He had no home, no hearth, no bed
He sought not food nor earthly dress
Yet He had all that His Father possessed

He had the truth and a heart that was pure
He had knowledge of our sickness and He had the cure
He had more love than He could ever give
And He had to die so that His children could live

He had no place to hang His coat
He had no house, no car, no boat
He sought not wealth nor earthly bread
Yet He was clothed and He was fed

He had the answer for a world bound by sin
He had forgiveness for those who put their trust in Him
He had compassion for the hurting and the lost
And He had the desire to accept the cost

He had no place to rest His feet
No hunting lodge, no summer retreat
He sought not shelter nor security
Yet He had more than the eye can see

He had true peace for a world of anxiety
He had the power to set the prisoner free
He had the knowledge of His Father’s perfect plan
And He had the nails driven in His hands

He had no place to lay His head
He had no home, no hearth, no bed
He sought not food nor earthly dress
Yet He had all that His Father possessed
