Will You Wash Feet?

When I came to Christ, I gladly gave Him my life
And this is what I prayed as I laid in my bed on that joyful day
I said, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll follow You anywhere
Say the word and I’ll gladly earn another degree”
I said, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll serve You anywhere
I want to use the gifts that You’ve given me”
And He said, “Child, My child, will you wash feet?”

As I grew in Christ, He kept changing my life
And this is what I prayed as I sat at my desk for many a day
I said, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll follow You anywhere
I’ll gladly sing for large crowds in bustling cities”
I said, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll serve You anywhere
I’ll gladly speak on the radio or appear on T.V.”
And He said, “Child, My child, will you wash feet?”

As I grew in Christ, he kept changing my life
And this is what I prayed as I bowed my head for many a day
I said, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll follow You anywhere
I’ll gladly lead the heathen to Christ in a foreign country”
I said, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll serve You anywhere
I’ll gladly go door to door or preach on the street”
And He said, “Child, My child, will you wash feet?”

As God conforms me to Christ, He helps me die to my life
So now this is what I pray down on my knees each and every day
I say, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll follow You anywhere
I’ll gladly sacrifice all to glorify Thee”
I say, “Lord, I will do anything; Lord, I’ll serve You anywhere
I’ll gladly take up basin and towel and wash heathen feet”
And He says, “Child, My child, you’re ready to serve Me”
