Lyrics

Keeper of the Home

I like to sing and write songs
But I desire not fortune or fame
For I would rather sing a lullaby to a child in my arms
Than have the whole world know my name

Refrain
A keeper of the home, a keeper of the peace
No awards to speak of, no impressive degrees
But I’ve got the love of the Lord and of my family
And that’s so much more than what the world could give me

I like to prepare healthy meals
And make them look nice on a plate
But I would rather cook for my family
Than be a chef for those the world calls great

I like to teach many lessons
But I desire not a classroom of twenty
For I long for a relationship with my class of one
More than paycheck and hugs from many

I like to study God’s Word
And help others come to know Christ
But before I venture out into the world
I must start with my own little tikes
